The Army of Scotland makes up 20% of the population, with 150 thousand soldiers in the military.
About half of these soldiers are regular swordsmen and pikemen. They generally are seen patrolling across the Scottish lands after James II came to power, with several hundred stationed in the south, after the recent pro-English uprisings.
One quarter of the Army is made up of bowmen. They are seen as the supporters of the regular army, usaully patrolling behind them and armed with well crafted bows.
An eighth of the army is the Navy. With five ships, the Navy is quite small, making Scotland very prone to attacks from sea. James II has been making steps to improve the Navy, but to no avail.
The last eighth is mainly guards of the castles across Scotland. They are much like the regular army and the bowmen put together, but with heavier armour and much better weapons.
