The population count of the Byzantine Empire is 8,000,000 overall.
It has a 2,000,000 strong professional army and 6,000,000 civilians.
The civilian population is split as such;

700,000 young men aging 18 to 24
1,400,000 middle aged men aging from 25 to 40
400,000 old men aged 40 and above.
3,500,000 women and children.

1,000,000 children aged 9 to 17
1,800,000 women
700,000 young women aged 18 to 24
750,000 middle aged women aging from 25 to 40.
350,000 old women aged 40 and above.
The Byzantine army is made up primarily of cavalry with a large continguency of of archers with a small body of professional foot soldiers.
1,000,000 of the army are cavalry.
400,000 light skirmishing cavalry armed with javelins and bows. They can fight on foot if need.
600,000 heavy/elite cavalry heavily armoured from head to toe in plate armour. they carry great lances and vicious axes to hack the heads off any who come too close.
1,000,000 men fight on foot.
500,000 men are foot soliers.
300,000 of these men fight using a greatsword. These swords measure roughly 6ft in length which them impossible to be used in conjunction with a shield. The length of these swords meant that they were used to cut through a wall of spears or to slcie through a cavalry charge.
200,000 men bore large shields, a spear and a single-handed axe. These men were placed in the frontline to protect the others until they got close to the enemy.
350,000 other men use big longbows to whittle down the enemy. They also have shortswords at their disposal should any unseen event occur.
The final 150,00 men are all engineers bearing great siege engines and trebuchets to the battle. They carry these machines aboard and long train of camels. Each Trebuchet requires 10 men to operate so the Byzantine are capable of bringing 15 trebuchets to bears against the enemy. They are protected by a number of the light cavalry and 50,000 men carrying the greatsword.
